SCIOinspire unveils PROSpect Care Management Application

Software application designed to sharpen the effectiveness of care management programs for improved outcomes and measurable ROI

Hartford, CT - August 14, 2008 - SCIOinspire, Corp., a premier provider of healthcare cost-containment services, today announced the official launch of its PROSpect software application, which serves as a cornerstone of the firm's PRO-series suite of products. The suite, developed by Solucia, Inc., a SCIOinspire company, has been developed to enable employers and health plans to manage the entire care management process more efficiently and to increase opportunities for improved outcomes for targeted patient populations. PROSpect is the second software application available in the PRO-series suite.

Employers, health plans and care management organizations budget and spend billions of dollars each year on care management interventions in an attempt to solve the healthcare cost containment problem. To date, however, these entities have had no accurate method by which to estimate and measure the return on investment (ROI) achieved through intervention programs. "We developed PROSpect to help health plans and program sponsors answer questions like 'How many individuals can we manage through my programs? What conditions should we target? What kinds of programs are most likely to succeed? What is the likely ROI?'" explains Ian Duncan, FSA, FIA, FCIA, MAAA, President and Founder of Solucia, Inc.

PROSpect provides opportunity assessment, financial impact, sales and reporting tools that help employers, health plans and care management companies understand the opportunity inherent in any given patient population, ensure proper program pricing, estimate appropriate staffing levels, and provide employer- and plan-specific cost/benefit estimates and reporting. Users therefore are able to:

  • Optimize the size and scope of a program (deciding which patients to target, at what percentages, over what time),
  • Identify target patient profiles for intervention,
  • Plan case loads (numbers of nurses and other resources required at different levels of intervention), and
  • Estimate the likely costs and benefits of a program (including the timing of the emergence of savings).

Complementing PROSpect within the PRO-series suite are:

PROGuide, a workflow system that allows users to manage a patient population with optimal effectiveness from identification and predictive modeling, to education and fulfillment.

PROFormance, a highly flexible employer reporting tool that incorporates DMAA guidelines and other best practices to measure cost savings and ROI for care management programs.

"We are delighted to add these innovative tools to our portfolio," says Siva Namasivayam, Chief Executive Officer for SCIOinspire. "We are confident they will help health plans, employers and care management organizations make significant progress towards controlling costs, while improving the quality of care available to a wide range of patient populations."
