Each year, healthcare payers spend increasingly more on claims for specialty pharmaceuticals and related services. This special class of drugs is administered in various settings, including hospitals, physicians' offices, and patients' homes. While these typically infused and injected drugs can save and extend lives, their extremely high cost is dramatically impacting healthcare payers and the people they serve. U.S expenditure on specialty pharmaceuticals is expected to reach almost $100 billion per year by the end of 2010, almost five times the amount spent in 2001.

This Webinar addresses dramatically increasing specialty pharmaceutical costs to healthcare payers, current federal government focus on the issue, and pre-payment and post-payment claim strategies in use by healthcare payers.
